PILOT OF KAMAZ-MASTER TEAM EDUARD NIKOLAEV MADE A PAIRED DRIFT WITH A LEGENDARY DRIFTER MAD MIKE WHIDDETT.

15.11.2018

15.11.2018, Saint-Petersburg. Racing drivers Eduard Nikolaev and Mike Whiddett carried out a real drift-race on the territory of the Kirov plant.

As in classic drift competitions, the pilots started their race separately from each other, meeting in the middle of the route in order to demonstrate their driving skills in a drift. Everything would be trivial if Eduard Nikolaev was not driving a 9-ton truck that had won rally-raid “Dakar-2018”.

The technical difference between the vehicles is that it is almost impossible to compare them. The diesel engine of the KAMAZ truck is 5 times bigger than the rotary four-section engine of Mike’s car in terms of capacity. Power of the both vehicles is close to 1000 horsepower, though the torque differs significantly. Herewith KAMAZ is 8 times heavier.

The difference in sizes between the truck of Eduard and the “Bad Bull Mazda RX-8” of Mad Mike brought a lot of trouble to the latter. He had to do a lot of work in order to get used to the race truck’s dimensions: “I was getting used for a long time to the fact that a huge truck of such size and weight was rushing side by side. One of its wheels is bigger than my car! ”, - shared his emotions Mike Whiddett. “I have the most positive impressions of this adventure! In fact, once again we proved that we can show results not only in the sands and dunes! ”, - said Eduard Nikolaev.

Mad Mike visited Russia for the first time, where he came specially to take part in this unusual race. The idea of the project was born at "Festival  of Speed" in English Goodwood, where the legendary drifter met with the pilots of KAMAZ-master Team. Then he jokingly asked if this huge truck could go sideways. The answer was received a year after.
